It is possible that there is an earthbound spirit in your house. Kids see a lot of different things: They can see their angels, spirit guides, and loved ones who come from the Light, as well as earth bound spirits.

About 2 months ago you were on WLDE in Ft. Wayne. You described our home perfectly. We did buy smudge sticks and tried to get rid of the ghosts. Our neighbor came over and said they had a female ghost. (Chuck)

You would have talked with my mother on WLDE. The smudge sticks should help you to balance the energy in your home so that things are a little bit calmer. If your neighbors also think that they have an earthbound spirit in their home, then I would suggest that they also smudge. You will be able to tell if your house is free from earthbound spirits based on the way that it feels. It is possible that you won't make the earthbound spirit leave, but you can make them very lethargic with smudging. If you notice things start happening again, then you need to make sure you smudge again.

Do you know anything about a visit from a dark spirit that's not a dream -- is it evil?(Marilee)

It sounds like this is the way you see earthbound spirits. By praying you are calling on good energy, which would make them leave you alone, if they are evil. I would suggest giving one of us a call so we can talk more about what is going on in your home.

Since we moved into our house we get a phone call between 5-7 that will be quiet and then you hear the phone click. I have heard this is the way that spirits make their presence known. Is this true?

Sometimes loved ones will get calls from someone who has passed away, but I have never heard of just an open line that clicks. It could be someone in your home affecting the way your phone works, because of the disruption in energy, not necessarily that they are trying to call you.

A picture was taken at a gravesite of parents arranging flowers after they lost their son to premature birth. There was a white figure behind them in the picture, but not on the negative.(Christine)

The way that you describe the situation it sounds like the white figure could be your grandmother -- the spirit of the baby would not be full sized. It could be your grandmother's way of letting them know that everyone is okay and the baby is being taken care of.

You mention using sage smudging. Will this cause earthbound spirits to leave or is this just for balancing energies? There are a number of New Age type cleansing workers -- are these suitable?(Theresa)

Smudging is for balancing the energies. If you have an earthbound spirit that is not completely attached to the house, or someone or something in the house, then they may leave. If you find someone else to cleanse you house who you are comfortable with, that would be fine. My only suggestion would be to make sure that they don't use holy water (unless they are ordained) and that they don't put protection over your doors to keep things from coming in, unless they are positive that they have got the spirit out. If you lock an earthbound spirit in, things can be pretty bad in a house.

Can an earthbound spirit cause problems for you such as bad luck (general), car accidents, family/relationship strain? Is there any way to even the energy out?(Kristen)

Earthbound spirits can't cause bad luck, but they can make everything feel way worse. Just like they can't cause you to have an accident, but they can be distracting so you have an accident. They also can cause strain in relationships and cause fighting, which would also cause problems. A way to balance the energy would be to either smudge or have your house blessed by an ordained priest or minister.

I took a picture boating on a lake in Michigan that had a very beautiful magenta apparition hanging over the lake. I assumed it was an angel. Could I send it to you to look at?(Scott)

I have always wondered if our house could be haunted. I feel someone sitting and sometimes jumping on my bed. My father hears footsteps. Could we have something or is this just our imagination. (Joel)

Many times people will feel their bed move as if someone is sitting down on it. They will also hear footsteps in a hallway or going up and down stairs. It is possible that you have an earthbound spirit in your home, but without talking with you on the phone, I am unable to tell for sure.

My girlfriend's mother was killed in a car accident a year ago and she has not yet had dreams about her. She had vivid dreams of her father until her mother passed away. (Donna)

It is very difficult to answer this question without getting any additional information. There could be different things going on. You would have to talk with either Mary Ann or myself to see if we can help you figure things out.

When I call you about that I will let you know how you can get a replacement seed for the one you wear -- but the one that's cracked is still working, so don't throw it away!

Can a lot of negativity in a house call in a negative spirit?(Jen)

It is possible that negativity can bring in a spirit, but it can also work the other way around: an earthbound spirit will bring negativity.

I am extremely interested in your mom's book that is out of print -- is it ever going to be available? Also, when are the videos going to be ready and how would I go about purchasing them?(B)

Any of the books that are out of print are staying out of print for the foreseeable future, though she is working on a new book. The videos also are being worked on, and when they are available to purchase you will be able to get them from this website.

My mother has Parkinson's disease and she has been hearing voices that are not friendly and are about to drive her out of her mind. The doctor says it's the disease. She also hears a woman's voices. A man died in her bedroom -- is there a chance that the man is haunting her?(Sheila)

It is possible that she is hearing and seeing earthbound spirits. It could be combination of Parkinson's and actually hearing things. I don't think that it would be the man who passed in the bedroom that is bothering her, but it could be someone else. It is also possible that she is seeing people who are coming out of the Light.

I think I have an earthbound spirit in my apartment. I was told to tell it to leave and go into the light in Jesus' name. Will this work? If not, how do I smudge?(Sharon)

Just telling a spirit to leave does not work. First of all, you are telling it to go to the Light, which they don't know how to find, unless you are able to make it. Second, by talking to the spirit you are giving them energy, which they need, so they won't leave. If you would like to smudge, you would start in the highest point in your apartment. If your apartment is one floor, start in the back and work towards the front. You want the smoke from the smudge to go into every corner of every room -- remember to carry something under the smudge stick, because it does leave ash.

Why do you notate the peaks of the Full Moon?(Kim)

It is just something to know. Earthbound spirits will gain more and more energy moving towards a full moon. Once the moon peaks, the spirit will actually be a little bit more calm, especially in the days leading away to the new moon.

I see ghosts in my mind. Because they scared me when I was younger, I closed down my ability, so I no longer see them with my eyes, but in my mind. My mother sees them as people, just a little fuzzy. People see them all sorts of different ways, sometimes as shadows, fog, or smoke, or even like heat waves. If you have the feeling that someone is staring at you and no one is there, it is possible that there could be an earthbound spirit in the house.

Dreaming about your grandfather is a good sign that he has passed through the Light. You are unable to dream about someone who has not crossed into the Light. About the crystal ball and what it would mean... That I am unable to help you with. I would suggest checking out a book on symbols in dream or dream interpretation to help you.

I recently spoke with Mary Ann over the phone while she was on a TV show. She told me I have an earthbound spirit that is attached to my teenage boy. How does this occur, and what can I do to prevent this spirit from using my son for energy? (Gina)

Earthbound spirits can follow people anywhere -- they can travel in cars with you and follow you around. There are many reasons why they would be attached to someone, but without being in your house, I am unable to find the reason why this spirit is attached to your son. Kids, especially teenage kids, are great sources or energy. You could neutralize what is going on in your home by either smudging the house or having the house blessed by an ordained priest or minister.

I heard your mom say that ghosts can cause a lot of respiratory infections in children. Can that be true for adults? (Lisa)

It is possible that earthbound spirits can cause respiratory problems in adults. It tends to happen to children more, but anytime your body is lacking energy, it is possible that you could be suffering the effects of an earthbound spirit.

How can I talk to the dead? (Debbie)

I don't know how to teach someone to talk with earthbound spirits, but if you have had dreams about your deceased friend, then she has crossed into the Light, and that would be a way for you to talk with her.

Is it possible for a ghost to be a dog? (Linda)

It is possible and happens frequently.

I believe that my house has two ghosts, one good and one bad. Is it possible that the good one is protecting me? (Dottie)

The light that you are seeing that you think could be protective could be a spirit that has come from the Light, like a guardian angel or spirit guide. Sometimes earthbound spirits feel protective of people in a house, but they can't really do anything to protect that person. They don't usually show up as lights either.

I teach in an older school and we all believe that our school has the spirit of a child living here. (Kelly)

Most public buildings do have some earthbound spirits in them, and schools are not an exception to that rule. You will find children spirits in schools -- ghosts of children will always find kids to hang around.

My beloved father passed away in March. Can you tell me if he waited for me to leave the house before he passed? (Susie)

It is possible that you telling him that it was okay for him to pass away was enough to let him know that you were going to be okay.

What do you mean by cross over? (Nethaniel)

When we say "cross over" we mean someone going into the White Light. Once they cross into the White Light I don't know what happens, but that is where they need to be. You have free will -- you can either go into the light or not. If you choose not to, then you become an earthbound spirit.

When you write the check for the law of abundance you have to do it on the day of the NEW moon, and you have to write it before the peak time for the new moon. Hopefully this clarifies your questions -- if not, let me know.

I talked with a friend of mine that is very knowledgeable about Wicca. She does not recognize what that word means or the verses that are on the headstone. She thought that it might be a code of some sort, but it was not one that she recognized. I apologize that I could not be more of a help.

Is it as painfully sad for a spirit to attend a funeral as it is for the grieving family? (Beth)

It depends on the situation. In the case that you mentioned, I would think that she was very sad. That is the reason why a spirit may become earthbound, because they are sad or feel guilty. But then there are times, such as a long illness, where there is a sense of relief for all parties involved.

Do you know what happens to spirits when they go into the Light? (Theresa)

I only have the ability to see spirits that are earthbound. Once they go into the light I have no idea what happens.

My family has been plagued by strange and uncommon illnesses since my second son was born in 1999. Someone mentioned that this could be the work of a vindictive spirit. What is your opinion? (Terri)

It is possible that you have an earthbound spirit in your house that could be causing some of the problems that you are having. And while they can't give you a specific illness, they can make different illnesses a little worse or cause the body to not heal as fast.

What is the herb that you can put under your pillow to remember dreams? (Jackie)

The herb is called mugwort. You can buy it and make a little satchel out of it and tuck it in between you pillow and pillowcase, and in a few days it will help you to remember your dreams.

What can I do to help ward off or decrease the energy of a spirit? Will going to temple and pray help in anyway? (M.C. in San Diego)

 Public places tend to have earthbound spirits that are around, especially if the place has high energy level. It is possible for an earthbound spirit to follow you home from work, or a grocery store, bar, or movie theater. My suggestion to you would be to either have your house blessed or smudge the house yourself. Best of luck to you.

We lived for five years in a house that we never felt that comfortable … I was very depressed in that house ... My mother heard “me” call her several times when I was not in the house or nearby. ...  If a house has an earthbound spirit it is possible to for the people who live in the house to have mood changes. There will be more tension in the house and there could be an increase in fighting. Sleep will be disturbed, people will think that they hear someone calling to them, but there is no one there, or that someone has walked into the house, but that hasn’t happened either. Things will come up missing and can be something small like a kitchen sponge or something of more value, like your rings. When something goes missing, you tear up the entire house looking for it, and then when you can’t find it you spend time blaming everyone who lives in the house. Look how much energy you're giving to that earthbound spirit -- this is why things will be moved or taken. Based on what you have written I would say that there was something in the house that you were living in.

 If you are interested in having a call back from Mom you need to call her number and leave a message with a range of times that she can get back to you.  When you have an earthbound spirit in the house it is possible to have the problems with phones and other electrical appliances in your home. So it is possible that something in your house was blocking the call that you were trying to make to Mom at the time.
